- Organizations that provide scholarships to students in developing countries for the purpose of their studies.
The foundation operates on a non-profit basis.

The Foundation is represented by the board, unless the law states otherwise. The Foundation may also be represented by two members of the board acting jointly (Article 7 – statutes).

The assets of the Elema Fund Foundation are formed by:
- The inheritance of Riekje Elema (bank and savings accounts, investments, and residential property);
- Grants and donations;
- Gifts, inheritances, and legacies;
- All other acquisitions and income.
The income of the fund consists of revenues from the aforementioned assets.
The expenses of the fund consist of contributions in support of the statutory objectives and associated management costs.
The Foundation will prepare an annual financial statement and publish it via its website.
If the Foundation is dissolved, the remaining balance will be allocated to an ANBI institution with a similar purpose or a foreign institution that aims solely or almost solely for the common good and has a similar objective.
Chapter 5: Ambitions
In 2025, the board will further specify its ambitions. This will clarify the pace at which the board wishes to grant the intended contributions. The answer to this question will also determine decisions regarding the allocation of its residential property. A decision will also be made about the possible liquidation of existing investments.
The board aims to make its first grants in 2026. To this end, an inventory of relevant projects will be conducted through Riekje’s network.
Additionally, the website will be further developed in 2025.
