Riekje Elema, at the time of her passing, bequeathed all her possessions to the Elema Fund Foundation, which she established.

The foundation aims to contribute to the development of healthcare both domestically and internationally. It does this by providing grants to:

• Small-scale healthcare projects, whether in developing countries or not, and

• Organizations that provide scholarships to students in the healthcare field in developing countries for the purpose of their studies.
